3 types of phone grades available at CompAsia - CompAsia

We are often asked about the differences between our cosmetic condition grades. And because there are no physical retail outlets in Singapore, examples of our phones are not easy to get a hold of. This can be off-putting to some of our customers who are not ready to purchase without a clear understanding of what they're getting.

To paint a more accurate picture of what you can expect of each device grade, this article is a good place to start. Before clicking on that “buy now” button, read on and look through some of the photo examples.

Excellent

An excellent graded device is as close as you get to a brand new phone. There may be micro scratches in the screen or body of the device, but most of them are barely visible when not closely scrutinised.

Screen: Scratches that are barely noticeable when the screen is on

Body: Minor signs of wear such as minor scratches and stains, along with possible minor dents/dings, not noticeable from 1 arm distance

*this is a worst case scenario for this grade

Expectation: Expected to have subtle signs of use, barely noticeable during normal use.

Good

To give you an idea of what owning a device graded as good is like, imagine being among a group of friends, 99% of the time, none of them would notice any flaws. They would have to personally interact with your phone to determine that there are scratches.

Screen: Minor but visible scratches that are barely noticeable if you turn on the screen

Body: Visible scratches, and stains, along with possible visible dents/dings on the body

*this is a worst case scenario for this grade

Expectation: Visible signs of use, fully functional with slight cosmetic imperfections.

Fair

While Fair might seem unfavourable, you do enjoy a significant discount when compared to a new or Excellent graded device. Note that every phone sold on CompAsia is also 100% functional, meaning that you do not have to worry about non-responsive buttons or dead pixels. You could even cover-up the scratches with a phone case.

Screen: Prominent scratches on the screen. Visibility of the screen is not affected.

Body: Noticeable scratches, visible spots upon close inspection. Possible discoloration, dents or dings on the body.

*this is a worst case scenario for this grade

Expectation: Visibly used but fully functional. Cost-saving despite cosmetic imperfections.
